Various systems and methods are presented regarding utilizing technology onboard a first vehicle to reduce probability of a second vehicle being further involved in a traffic accident occurring between the first vehicle and a third vehicle. The first vehicle can transmit a notification to the second vehicle, wherein the notification can provide details regarding the collision, collision location, vehicles involved, etc. The second vehicle, operating autonomously, can self-adjust operation to avoid being involved in the accident, e.g., the first vehicle and third vehicle are in a rear-end collision, which the second vehicle can navigate to avoid. The second vehicle can, for example, self-determine whether a safe braking distance can be achieved, navigation into an adjacent lane, warn other vehicles of the collision. Accordingly, autonomous vehicles can reduce probability of pile-up collisions occurring.
