A 3D model of a vehicle and a 3D model of a constrained environment are combined. The combined models are manipulated then rendered to provide 2D representations of the 3D models. The 2D representations can be displayed on a conventional display device and replicate movement of the modelled vehicle in the actual constrained environment. Rendering the manipulated models enables the 3D models to be viewable on a 2D display screen. The 3D models can be manipulated to provide either 1st person or 3rd person views of a vehicle inside a constrained environment. A spline curve representing a safe pathway through the constrained environment can also be modelled in 3D, combined with other 3D models and rendered for display on a display device.
