A system for measuring wear of a radial lip seal arranged circumferentially over a rotatable axle A sensor is configured to measure the wear of the radial lip seal by measuring the distance between the sensor and the radial lip seal. The wear of the radial lip seal corresponds to the distance of the radial lip seal from the sensor. The distance is measured between the sensor and the outer diameter of the radial lip seal. The sensor is configured for dynamic measuring of the radial lip seal and static measuring of the radial lip seal and to predict the replacement of the radial lip seal. Static measuring refers to the measurement performed by the sensor when the rotatable axle is stationary and dynamic measuring refers to the measurement performed by the sensor when the rotatable axle is rotating.
