A rubber composition includes rubber and an infrared (IR) reflective pigment. Upon contact with IR radiation having a wavelength in the range of 700 to 2500 nm, the rubber composition has a maximum IR reflectance of at least 30%. A Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) detectable tire includes a first section formed from the rubber composition. A method for detecting a LIDAR detectable tire is also disclosed.
