The invention relates to a device for attaching a cross-member of a dashboard to a front pillar lining, said device comprising a reinforcing element (13) provided with a first positioning element (14) for cooperating with a second positioning element (15) secured to the dashboard in such a way that they occupy a relative determined position. An attachment element is used to immobilise the assembly in said determined position. The attachment device is designed such that the connection between the first positioning element (14) and the reinforcing element (13) comprises a position regulating mechanism designed so as to vary between an unlocked state wherein the position of the first positioning element (14) is adjustable in relation to the reinforcing element (13), and a locked state wherein the first positioning element (14) is fixed in relation to the reinforcing element (13).
