The present invention relates to a system for navigating an aircraft. The system comprises a first aircraft (10) with a first communication unit (12) and a second aircraft (20) with a second communication unit (22). The first aircraft (10) is adapted for determining coordinates of a position of a waypoint (40). The first communication unit (12) is adapted to transmit the coordinates of the position of the waypoint (40) to the second communication unit (22). The second aircraft (20) is adapted to navigate to the position of the waypoint (40). Several waypoints (40) can be provided in this manner such that a flight trajectory (41) is established along which the second aircraft (20) may follow the first aircraft (10). The invention also relates to a system for navigating an aircraft, wherein the second aircraft (20) adapted to follow the first aircraft (10) based on a received identification signal. With this system it is possible that the second aircraft (20) can follow the first aircraft (10) in case of a failure of systems of the second aircraft (20). The present invention also relates to a method for navigating an aircraft.
