    The invention provides an operating device for a ship. This marine steering device is provided with: an operation unit that is operated so as to control the propulsion speed of a ship; a display unit that displays propulsion information indicating the degree of propulsion speed of the ship in accordance with the operation position of the operation unit in association with a command value for a propeller of the ship; a propulsion control unit that, in the case of a first propulsion mode, controls the propulsion force of the propeller on the basis of a first command value corresponding to the operation position, and, in the case of a second propulsion mode, controls the propulsion force of the propeller on the basis of a second command value corresponding to the operation position; and a display control unit that, in the case of the first propulsion mode, displays the first type of command value in association with the propulsion information on the display unit, and, in the case of the second propulsion mode, displays the second type of command value in association with the propulsion information on the display unit.
