The present invention provides a ship equipped with hard sails which has a large area and can be stored in a small hangar. When the hard sail (27) is projected on the deck to obtain propulsion by the wind, the extension sails (33, 35) are extended by moving outward in the width direction (WD) from the sail body (31) by the support structure consisting of the upper load support member (37) and the driving mechanism (39), thereby extending the length in the width direction (WD) of the hard sail (27). When the hard sail (27) is not in use and is stored in the hangar (29) during unloading or a storm, the extension sails (33, 35) are moved inward in the width direction (WD) by the support structure and stored within the sail body (31), thereby reducing the length in the width direction.
