The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling an engine of a hybrid vehicle. The apparatus according to the present invention comprises: an environmental information collection unit for collecting the traveling environment information of a vehicle; a determination unit for comparing the collected traveling environment information with preset reference information and determining whether the collected traveling environment information satisfies a preset condition; a setting unit for setting a reference coolant temperature using the collected traveling environment information and changing the reference coolant temperature depending on the traveling environment information when the collected traveling environment information satisfies the preset condition; and an engine control unit for preventing the engine from being turned on by heating and air-conditioning control of the vehicle when the collected traveling environment information satisfies the preset condition and a coolant temperature among the collected traveling environment information is lower than the changed reference coolant temperature. Therefore, provided are an apparatus and a method for controlling an engine of a hybrid vehicle, which can restrict the on/off operation of the engine when heating air-conditioning control is performed, thereby reducing the amount of non-drive fuel consumption.

    본 발명은 하이브리드 차량의 엔진 제어 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 장치는, 차량의 주행 환경정보를 수집하는 환경정보 수집부, 상기 수집된 주행 환경정보와 미리 설정된 기준 정보를 비교하여 상기 수집된 주행 환경정보가 미리 설정된 조건을 만족하는지 판단하는 판단부, 상기 수집된 주행 환경정보를 이용하여 기준 냉각수온을 설정하고, 상기 수집된 주행 환경정보가 미리 설정된 조건을 만족하면 상기 수집한 주행 환경정보에 따라 상기 기준 냉각수온을 가변 설정하는 설정부, 및 상기 수집된 주행 환경정보가 미리 설정된 조건을 만족하고, 상기 수집된 주행 환경정보 중 냉각수온이 상기 가변 설정된 기준 냉각수온 미만이면 상기 차량의 난방 공조 제어에 의해 엔진이 온(ON) 되는 것을 차단하는 엔진 제어부를 포함한다.
