The present invention relates to a variable pitch propeller capable of changing a blade pitch according to operating conditions of a ship. More particularly, the present invention relates to a variable pitch propeller having an optimal hub diameter ratio, capable of reducing the size of a hub so as to have high propulsion efficiency approaching that of a fixed pitch propeller (FPP). To this end, according to the present invention, provided is a variable pitch propeller including a hub mounted on a propulsion shaft of a ship, and blades mounted on the circumference of the hub and having a variable pitch, wherein the H/D ratio of the propeller diameter (D) to the hub diameter (H) is 0.170 to 0.2.

    본 발명은 선박의 운항 조건에 따라 블레이드 피치를 변경 가능한 가변 피치 프로펠러에 관한 것으로서, 특히 고정 피치 프로펠러(fixed pitch propeller; FPP)의 추진효율에 근접하는 고효율을 가질 수 있도록 허브의 사이즈를 감소시킬 수 있는 최적의 허브 직경비를 갖는 가변 피치 프로펠러에 관한 것이다. 상기와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명은 선박의 추진축에 장착된 허브와, 허브의 둘레에 장착되며 피치가 가변하는 블레이드를 포함하는 가변 피치 프로펠러로서, 프로펠러의 직경(D)과 허브의 직경(H)에 대한 H/D비가 0.170 내지 0.2인 것을 기술적 특징으로 한다.
