The present invention aims to provide a smart charger that reduces charging imbalance in battery cells and prevents accidents caused by overheating of the battery cells. The smart charger according to the present invention, which supplies output power through an output terminal to a battery pack driven by a battery management system, comprises: a communication unit that receives battery model information and battery cell information from the battery management system through controller area network (CAN) communications; a control unit that reads charging information corresponding to the battery model information and generates a control signal to generate a voltage and a current corresponding to the charging information; and a power conversion unit that converts a voltage and a current of input power based on the control signal to generate the output power corresponding to the charging information. The control unit primarily determines a first voltage value and a first current value corresponding to the battery model information to generate the control signal, and after the output power is supplied, secondarily determines a second current value corresponding to the battery cell information to generate the control signal.

    본 발명의 배터리 관리시스템(Battery Management System)에 의해 구동되는 배터리팩에 출력단자를 통해 출력전원을 공급하는 스마트 충전기는, 상기 배터리 관리시스템(BMS)로부터 CAN(Controller Area Network) 통신을 통해 배터리모델 정보와 배터리셀 정보를 수신하는 통신부와, 상기 배터리모델 정보에 대응하는 충전정보를 리드하고, 상기 충전정보에 대응하는 전압 및 전류를 생성하도록 제어신호를 생성하는 제어부와, 상기 제어신호를 기초로 입력전원의 전압 및 전류를 변환하여 상기 충전정보에 대응하는 상기 출력전원을 생성하는 전력변환부를 포함하고, 상기 제어부는 1차적으로 상기 배터리모델 정보에 대응하는 제1 전압값 및 제1 전류값을 결정하여 상기 제어신호를 생성하고, 상기 출력전원 공급 이후 2차적으로 상기 배터리셀 정보에 대응하는 제2 전류값을 결정하여 상기 제어신호를 생성한다.
