The present invention relates to a vehicle velocity guidance apparatus for safe driving and a method thereof. The vehicle velocity guidance apparatus for safe driving according to the present invention comprises: an input unit which obtains a front image; a memory which stores a program for calculating a safe driving velocity by using information on visibility obtained by analyzing the front image; and a processor executing the program. The processor calculates the safe driving velocity that makes a stopping distance, which is a moving distance required for a driving vehicle to stop, smaller than a final visibility. The vehicle velocity guidance apparatus guides the safe driving velocity by considering visibility, detection distance, and surrounding environments so that the vehicle can stop before a collision.
본 발명은 안전 주행을 위한 차속 안내 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 안전 주행을 위한 차속 안내 장치는 전방 영상을 획득하는 입력부와, 전방 영상을 분석하여 획득한 가시거리에 관한 정보를 이용하여 안전 주행 속도를 계산하는 프로그램이 저장된 메모리 및 프로그램을 실행시키는 프로세서를 포함하고, 프로세서는 주행 중인 차량이 정지하는데 소요되는 이동거리인 정지거리가 최종 가시거리보다 작도록 안전 주행 속도를 계산한다.
