An energy storage system for electric vehicle charging according to the present invention comprises: at least one power storage device conned with a grid supplying electricity or a charging device for an electric vehicle connected with the grid; and an EMS which permits or blocks charging current supplied from the grid or the charging device for an electric vehicle to the power storage device based on a power state of the grid. The energy storage system allows to charge multiple electric vehicles without additional installation of power equipment.
