The present invention relates to a method for detecting a leakage of coolant from a high-voltage battery using a flow sensor of an electric vehicle, wherein the method determines whether coolant for cooling a high-voltage battery of an electric vehicle is leaked and warns about fire and urgently limits driving/charging of the vehicle in the event of a coolant leakage. The method comprises: a step in which a high-voltage battery management unit which manages a high-voltage battery of an electric vehicle measures a flow rate of coolant by using a coolant flow sensor and sets a coolant level by compensating a coolant temperature reference flow rate with a temperature coefficient measured by a coolant temperature sensor; a step of comparing the compensated coolant level with a previous coolant level obtained during a previous driving cycle; a step of obtaining vehicle state information through a vehicle control unit (VCU) and an airbag control unit (ACU) when the coolant level is lower than the previous coolant level and analyzing the obtained vehicle state information so as to warn about fire hazard when it is determined that the vehicle is in a collision state and automatically turn off a main relay of the high-voltage battery; and a step of calculating coolant leakage per hour when the vehicle is not in the collision state so as to control the main relay of the high-voltage battery according to the amount of leaked coolant or control the driving of a cooling system. As such, it is possible to protect a user against fire hazard caused by the leakage of coolant from a high-voltage battery.

    전기 자동차의 고전압배터리 냉각용 냉각수의 누출 여부를 판단하여, 냉각수 누출 시 화재발생에 대해 경고 및 차량의 주행/충전을 긴급히 제한하도록 한 전기 자동차의 유량센서를 이용한 고전압배터리 냉각수 누출 검출방법에 관한 것으로서, 전기 자동차의 고전압 배터리를 관리하는 고전압배터리 관리부에서 냉각수 유량센서를 이용하여 냉각수 유량을 측정하고, 냉각수 온도센서를 통해 측정한 온도계수로 냉각수 온도기준 유량을 보상하여 냉각수 레벨을 설정하고, 보상한 냉각수 레벨과 이전 드라이빙 사이클 시 획득한 이전 냉각수 레벨을 비교하여, 냉각수 레벨이 이전 냉각수 레벨보다 낮으면, 차량 제어유닛(VCU)과 에어백 제어유닛(ACU)을 통해 차량 상태 정보를 획득하고, 획득한 차량 상태 정보를 분석하여 차량 충돌 상태로 판단되면 화재위험을 경고하고 고전압배터리의 메인 릴레이를 자동으로 오프시키며, 차량 충돌 상태가 아니면, 냉각수의 시간당 누출량을 계산하여, 냉각수의 누출량에 따라 고전압배터리의 메인 릴레이를 제어하거나 냉각시스템의 구동을 제어하여, 고전압배터리의 냉각수 누출에 따른 화재위험으로부터 사용자를 보호한다.
