According to an embodiment of the present invention, a control server which estimates the traffic density of a road based on information transmitted from a sample vehicle includes: a communication unit which is configured to receive trajectory information transmitted from the sample vehicle and a distance between heads of at least one target vehicle and the sample vehicle; and a control unit which estimates the traffic density for the estimated section of the road using the distance and the trajectory information. The traffic density is defined as a total travel time of the at least one target vehicle with respect to an area of a space region corresponding to the estimated section. Therefore, it is possible to estimate the traffic density with high reliability and low maintenance cost.

    본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 표본 차량에서 전송되는 정보를 기반으로 도로의 교통 밀도를 추정하는 관제 서버는, 상기 표본 차량으로부터 전송된 궤적 정보 및 적어도 하나의 대상 차량과 상기 표본 차량 간의 차두 거리를 수신하는 통신부, 그리고 상기 차두 거리 및 상기 궤적 정보를 사용하여 상기 도로의 추정 구간에 대한 교통 밀도를 추정하는 제어부를 포함하되, 상기 교통 밀도는 상기 추정 구간에 대응하는 시공간적 영역의 넓이에 대한 상기 적어도 하나의 대상 차량의 총 통행 시간으로 정의된다.
