The present invention relates to a scavenge air cooling system and a method thereof to reduce fuel consumption of an engine by cooling scavenge air of the engine according to a principle which an engine efficiency is improved as temperature of air required for combustion of fuel is lower. The system of the present invention comprises: a scavenge air supplying line through which the scavenge air is supplied to the engine through a turbo charger; a scavenge air cooler provided on the scavenging air supplying line and cooling the scavenge air supplied to the engine; a cooling water circulating line through which cooling water which is supplied to the scavenge air cooler and exchanges heat with the scavenge air is circulated; and a refrigerant circulating line which is provided separately from the cooling water circulating line and through which a refrigerant heat-exchanged with the scavenge air in the scavenge air cooler circulates.

    본 발명은 연료의 연소에 필요한 공기의 온도가 낮을수록 엔진 효율이 향상되는 원리에 따라 엔진의 소기를 냉각시킴으로 엔진의 연료소비량을 절감하는 선박의 소기 냉각 시스템 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 과급기(turbo charger)를 통해 상기 엔진으로 소기가 공급되는 소기 공급라인; 상기 소기 공급라인 상에 마련되고 상기 엔진으로 공급되는 소기를 냉각시키기 위한 소기 냉각기; 상기 소기 냉각기로 공급되어 소기와 열교환하는 냉각수가 순환되는 냉각수 순환라인; 및 상기 냉각수 순환라인과 별도로 마련되어 상기 소기 냉각기에서 소기와 열교환되는 냉매가 순환되는 냉매 순환라인을 포함한다.
