The present invention relates to a battery management system and a battery management method. According to the present invention, the battery management system, which manages a battery pack including a plurality of cells, comprises: a cell monitoring IC connected to both ends of each of the plurality of cells to measure the cell voltage of each of the plurality of cells; a time control unit which counts a wakeup cycle when a relay is turned off; and a main control circuit which is converted from a sleep mode into a wakeup mode when the wakeup cycle passes, and which receives the cell voltage of each of the plurality of cells measured, thereby determining if cell balancing is required or not based on the cell voltage of each of the plurality of cells, and which converts into the sleep mode after transmitting a cell balancing control signal to the cell monitoring IC when cell balancing is required. The present invention aims to provide a battery management system and a battery management method, which are able to save energy.

    본 발명의 배터리 관리 시스템은, 복수의 셀을 포함하는 배터리 팩을 관리하는 시스템에 있어서, 상기 복수의 셀 각각의 양단에 연결되어 상기 복수의 셀 각각의 셀 전압을 측정하는 셀 모니터링 IC; 및 릴레이가 턴 오프되면 웨이크업 주기를 카운트하는 시간 제어부; 및 상기 웨이크업 주기가 경과하면 슬립모드에서 웨이크업 모드로 전환되고, 상기 측정된 복수의 셀 각각의 셀 전압을 수신하며 상기 복수의 셀 각각의 셀 전압에 기초하여 셀 밸런싱이 필요한지를 결정하고 셀 밸런싱이 필요한 경우 상기 셀 모니터링 IC에 셀 밸런싱 제어 신호를 전달한 후 슬립모드로 전환하는 메인 제어 회로를 포함한다.
