The present invention relates to a brake apparatus for a railroad vehicle, which comprises: a back plate which has a curved shape in a circumferential direction of a wheel of the railroad vehicle; a rib strip which is engaged by being placed in a transversal direction of a plate surface of the back plate; a friction member which accommodates at least a part of the back plate and the rib strip and is supported by the back plate; an abrasion sensor placed in a thickness direction of the friction member, having a wave-shaped cross-sectional surface shape, which has an extension section with a cross-sectional area increasing as extended in a longitudinal direction being farther away from the back plate, and a reduction section with a cross-sectional area decreasing as extended, and detecting an impedance generated as abrasion is caused by the wheel of the railroad vehicle; and a control unit storing a cross-sectional shape of the waveform of the abrasion sensor and an impedance of the extension section and the reduction section, determining which part of the abrasion sensor it is based on the impedance received from the abrasion sensor, and identifying the degree of abrasion of the friction member for the part which is determined. The brake apparatus for a railroad vehicle is able to precisely identify the degree of abrasion and efficiently use the friction member.

    철도 차량용 브레이크 장치는 철도 차량의 바퀴의 원주방향을 따라 굽은 형상을 갖는 백플레이트, 백플레이트의 판면의 가로방향으로 배치되어 결합되는 리브스트립, 백플레이트의 적어도 일부와 리브스트립을 수용하며 백플레이트에 지지되는 마찰부재, 마찰부재의 두께방향으로 배치되어 백플레이트로부터 멀어지는 길이방향을 따라 연장될수록 단면적이 증가되는 확장구간과 단면적이 감소하는 축소구간을 갖는 파형의 단면형상을 가지며, 철도 차량의 바퀴에 의해 마모되면서 발생되는 임피던스를 감지하는 마모감지센서 및 마모감지센서의 파형의 단면형상과, 확장구간과 축소구간에 대한 임피던스를 저장하며, 마모감지센서에서 수신된 임피던스에 기초하여 마모감지센서의 어느 부분인지를 판단하며, 판단된 부분에 대한 마찰부재의 마모정도를 파악하는 제어부를 포함한다.
