The present invention relates to a navigation apparatus and a route guidance method thereof. An object of the present invention is to provide the navigation apparatus providing a route guidance by displaying a virtual vehicle on a road ahead of the vehicle, and the route guidance method thereof. The present invention relates to the navigation apparatus and the route guidance method thereof, comprises: a surrounding information detection unit detecting surrounding information of the vehicle; a vehicle information detection unit detecting vehicle information; a display unit displaying an augmented reality-based virtual vehicle in front of the vehicle; and a controller controlling a display of the virtual vehicle based on the surrounding information and the vehicle information during the route guidance.

    본 발명은 내비게이션 장치 및 그의 경로 안내 방법에 관한 것으로, 차량의 주변정보를 검출하는 주변정보 검출부, 차량정보를 검출하는 차량정보 검출부, 상기 차량의 전방에 증강현실 기반의 가상 차량을 표시하는 표시부, 및 경로 안내 시 상기 주변정보 및 상기 차량정보에 기반하여 상기 가상 차량의 표시를 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
