According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is a wheel bearing assembly for mounting a wheel of a vehicle on a vehicle body and supporting the wheel. The wheel bearing assembly according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a wheel hub having a hub flange for mounting a wheel; an inner race press-fitted and mounted on a stepped part formed on one side of the wheel hub; an outer race mounted on the outside of the inner race in a radial direction and having a mounting flange mounted on a vehicle body, on the outer circumferential surface thereof; and one or more rolling elements mounted between the wheel hub and the inner and outer races. An inner orbital surface for supporting the rolling elements is formed at a portion of the outer circumferential surface of the wheel hub and the inner race, and the outer orbital surface for supporting the rolling elements is formed at a portion of the inner circumferential surface of the outer race. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an accommodation space for accommodating a constant velocity joint is formed inside an end of a vehicle body side of the wheel hub. Also, a plurality of recesses for accommodating a rotation element of the constant velocity joint are spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction on the inner circumferential surface of the wheel hub in which the accommodation space is located. Also, a first heat treatment hardened part is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the end of the vehicle body side of the wheel hub, and the first heat treatment hardened part is formed to include a part which comes in contact with the rotation element of the constant velocity joint. In addition, on the outer circumferential surface of the wheel hub, a second heat treatment hardened part is formed before a part (D) where a radial thickness between the outer circumferential surface of the stepped part and the inner circumferential surface of the wheel hub starting from a part located at the wheel side than the inner orbital surface of the rolling elements formed on the outer circumferential surface of the wheel hub is minimized.

    본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면 차량의 차륜을 차체에 회전가능하게 장착하여 지지하는 휠베어링 조립체가 제공된다. 본 발명의 일 실시에에 따른 휠베어링 조립체는 차륜을 장착하기 위한 허브 플랜지를 구비하는 휠허브와, 휠허브의 일측에 형성된 단차부에 압입되어 장착되는 내륜과, 내륜의 반경방향 외측에 장착되며 외주면에 차체에 장착되는 장착 플랜지를 구비하는 외륜과, 휠허브 및 내륜과 외륜 사이에 장착되는 하나 이상의 전동체를 포함하며, 휠허브 및 내륜의 외주면 일부에는 전동체를 지지하는 내측 궤도면이 형성되고, 외륜의 내주면 일부에는 전동체를 지지하는 외측 궤도면이 형성되도록 구성될 수 있다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 휠허브의 차체측 단부 내측에는 등속조인트를 수용하기 위한 수용공간이 형성되고, 수용공간이 위치하는 휠허브의 내주면에는 등속조인트의 회전요소를 수용하기 위한 리세스가 원주방향을 따라 이격되어 복수로 형성되도록 구성될 수 있다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 휠허브의 차체측 단부 내주면에는 제1 열처리 경화부가 형성되고, 제1 열처리 경화부는 등속조인트의 회전요소가 접촉하는 부분을 포함하도록 형성될 수 있고, 휠허브의 외주면에는 제2 열처리 경화부가 휠허브의 외주면에 형성된 전동체의 내측 궤도면보다 차륜측에 위치하는 부분에서 시작해 단차부의 외주면과 휠허브의 내주면 사이에서 반경방향 두께가 최소가 되는 부분(D) 이전까지 형성될 수 있다.
