A passenger occupancy detection system (10) of the present invention implements a method for detecting a passenger using a sensor interconnection method which allows a sensor controller (30) to use an electronic stably control (ESC) sensor as an acceleration sensor to read a sensor value when a vehicle is stopped, determines the occupancy of a passenger in the vehicle from a vehicle acceleration change based on the sensor value, and interconnects operation of a rear passenger notification system (200) and a passenger seat-discriminated advanced airbag system (300) based on vehicle passenger occupancy determination. Accordingly, the present invention replaces a weight sensor (passenger discriminated sensor, 23) or an ultrasound sensor (24), thereby reducing costs. In particular, passenger detection correctness is increased by using vertical/horizontal acceleration and yaw rate information and reliability of a sensor is increased by providing fail-safe information. According to the present invention, the passenger occupancy detection system comprises an acceleration sensor, a door opening sensor, and the sensor controller.

    본 발명의 승객탑승감지 시스템(10)은 차량 정차 상황 시 센서 컨트롤러(30)에서 ESC(Electronic Stability Control)센서를 가속도 센서로 하여 센서 값을 읽고, 센서 값에 의한 차량 가속도 변화로 차 실내 승객 판별이 이루어지며, 차 실내 승객 판별로 후석 동승자 알림 시스템(200) 및 동승석 승객 구분 어드밴스드 에어백 시스템(300)에 대한 작동을 연계시켜주는 센서연계방식 승객감지방법을 구현함으로써 무게센서(승객구분센서)(23) 또는 초음파 센서(24)의 대체로 원가절감이 가능하고, 특히 종/횡방향 가속도/요레이트 정보를 활용한 승객 감지 정확도 증가와 함께 Fail-safe 제공에 의한 센서 신뢰성 강화도 이루어지는 특징을 갖는다.
