Provided are an apparatus and a method to control longitudinal velocity of a vehicle. The apparatus to control longitudinal velocity of a vehicle obtains driving waypoints by using a central waypoint relevant to a point in which a vehicle is placed from a map database, and adjusts longitudinal velocity of the vehicle based on a preceding object in a determined region for driving based on the obtained driving waypoints.

    차량의 종방향 속도를 제어하는 장치 및 방법이 제공된다. 차량의 종방향 속도를 제어하는 장치는, 맵 데이터베이스로부터 차량이 위치하는 지점과 관련된 중심 웨이포인트를 이용하여 주행 웨이포인트를 획득하고, 획득된 주행 웨이포인트에 기초하여 결정된 주행 예정 영역 내의 선행 객체에 기초하여 차량의 종방향 속도를 조정할 수 있다.
