The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for preventing drowsy driving. The apparatus for preventing drowsy driving includes: a sensor unit for measuring biometric information of a driver who drives a vehicle; a GPS unit for receiving global positioning system (GPS) information of the vehicle; a drowsiness preventing unit that awakens the driver; and a controller that sets reference information by using the biometric information and environment information for the normal operation state of the driver, measures the drowsy state of the driver by comparing the set reference information with the biometric information and the environment information of the driver measured during the driving, determines the drowsy driving of the driver by using the measured drowsy state, generates customized drowsiness prevention information using the drowsy state and the GPS information when it is determined that the driver is in the drowsy driving state, and drives the drowsiness preventing unit by using the generated drowsiness prevention information.
본 발명은 졸음운전 방지장치 및 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 졸음운전 방지장치는 차량을 운전하는 운전자의 생체정보를 측정하는 센서부, 차량의 GPS(Global Positioning System)정보를 수신하는 GPS부, 운전자의 졸음을 각성시키는 졸음방지부 및 운전자의 정상운전 상태에 대한 생체정보 및 환경정보를 이용하여 기준정보로 설정하고, 설정된 기준정보와 운전 중에 측정된 운전자의 생체정보 및 환경정보를 비교하여 운전자의 졸음상태를 산출하며, 산출된 졸음상태를 이용하여 운전자가 졸음운전을 판단하고, 운전자가 졸음운전 중이라고 판단하면 상기 졸음상태 및 상기 GPS정보를 이용하여 맞춤형 졸음방지정보를 생성하며, 생성된 졸음방지정보를 이용하여 상기 졸음방지부를 구동시키는 제어부를 포함한다.
