A method for diagnosing a fault of a charger for a vehicle includes the steps of: comparing an output voltage of the charger with a voltage of a battery before starting a charging operation of the battery mounted in the vehicle; starting the charging operation or forcedly driving the charger according to a voltage comparison result; comparing a charging current of the battery with an output current of the charger if the charger is forcedly driven; and determining a fault part according to a current comparison result and finishing the charging operation. Accordingly, the present invention can more specifically and accurately identify the fault part and a fault region.

    차량용 충전기 고장 진단 방법은 차량에 탑재된 배터리를 충전 동작을 개시하기 전 배터리의 전압과 충전기의 출력 전압을 비교하는 단계, 전압 비교 결과에 따라 충전 동작을 개시하거나 충전기를 강제 구동하는 단계, 충전기가 강제 구동되면 충전기의 출력 전류와 배터리의 충전 전류를 비교하는 단계, 및 전류 비교 결과에 따라 고장 부위를 결정하고 충전 동작을 종료하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
