The present invention relates to a nondestructive inspection (NDI) system, which comprises: an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) having a main body structure; and at least one nondestructive inspection sensors integrated into each releasable end structure. The main body structure has at least one supporting structure. Moreover, the supporting structures have the releasable end structures. In addition, according to a structure to be inspected, the NDI system can include a position tracking system for determining position, orientation, or both of the position and orientation with respect to the UAV and/or the NDI sensors.
