The present invention relates to an emergency braking system and a control method thereof, which are configured to perform urgent braking in consideration with a target vehicle cutting in to a drivers road from a side of a vehicle. The present invention is configured to detect a target vehicle running on a side of a vehicle, determine a cut-in probability based on information, such as a distance to the target vehicle, a longitudinal speed of the target vehicle, a transverse speed of the target vehicle, and an operation of a winker of the target vehicle so as to change and set a target selection area, thereby performing urgent braking based on the target selection area increased by a predetermined area in a case where it is determined that there is a probability where the target vehicle is to cut in, thus quickly determining an urgent braking situation caused by the cut-in vehicle and effectively performing urgent braking.

    본 실시예들은 차량의 측면에서 자차로로 컷인하는 타겟 차량을 고려하여 긴급 제동을 수행하는 시스템 및 그 제어 방법에 관한 것으로서, 차량의 측면에서 주행하는 타겟 차량을 감지하고 타겟 차량과의 거리, 타겟 차량의 종방향 속도, 타겟 차량의 횡방향 속도 및 타겟 차량의 방향 지시등의 동작 정보에 기초하여 컷인 확률을 판단하고 타겟 선정 영역을 가변하여 설정해줌으로써, 타겟 차량의 컷인 가능성이 있다고 판단되는 경우에는 일정 영역만큼 증가된 타겟 선정 영역에 기초한 긴급 제동을 수행하여 컷인 차량으로 인한 긴급 제동 상황을 신속하게 판단하고 효과적으로 긴급 제동을 수행할 수 있도록 한다.
