The present invention relates to a smart cruise control system and a control method thereof. The smart cruise control system comprises a turn signal state input part, a position information reception part, a camera, a vehicle speed sensor and a control part. The turn signal state input part receives a state of a turn signal of a vehicle. The position information reception part receives position information on the vehicle. The camera photographs a front image on the vehicle. The vehicle speed sensor measures the speed of the vehicle. The control part determines whether a right turn control is performed based on the state of the turn signal, which is input through the turn signal state input part, position information received through the position information reception part, and the front image photographed by the camera. When performance of the right turn control is determined, the control part calculates the target vehicle′s speed for a right turn based on the position information and performs a speed control of the vehicle based on the vehicle′s speed measured by the vehicle speed sensor and the calculated target vehicle′s speed. According to the present invention, proper speed control can be performed when the vehicle turns right by determining the driver′s intention to perform a right turn.

    본 발명은 스마트 크루즈 컨트롤 시스템 및 그 제어방법에 관한 것으로, 차량의 방향지시등의 상태를 입력받는 방향지시등 상태 입력부, 상기 차량의 위치정보를 수신하는 위치정보 수신부, 상기 차량의 전방영상을 촬영하는 카메라, 상기 차량의 속도를 측정하는 차속센서 및 상기 방향지시등 상태 입력부를 통해 입력된 방향지시등의 상태, 상기 위치정보 수신부를 통해 수신된 위치정보 및 상기 카메라를 통해 촬영된 전방영상에 근거하여 우회전 제어의 수행여부를 판단하고, 우회전 제어가 수행되는 것으로 판단되면 상기 위치정보에 근거하여 우회전을 위한 목표차속을 산출하며, 상기 차속센서를 통해 측정된 차속 및 상기 산출된 목표차속에 근거하여 차량의 속도 제어를 수행하는 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
