The present invention relates to an on-board diagnostic (OBD) terminal and a power control method thereof. The OBD terminal according to the present invention comprises: a connector provided with power from a battery for a vehicle and transferring the power to an interior of the OBD terminal; a regulator blocking the supply of power transferred through the connector; a main control unit (MCU) controlling the OBD terminal; and a communications module communicating with sensors positioned inside the vehicle. The regulator normally supplies the first power to the MCU when the power transferred through the connector is input and shuts out a second power supplied to the communication module in accordance with a preset condition. When the OBD terminal is operated in a sleep mode, consumption of standby power supplied to the OBD terminal can be minimized.
본 발명은 OBD 단말기 및 그의 전원 제어 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 장치는, 차량용 배터리로부터 전원을 공급받아 OBD 단말기 내부로 전달하는 커넥터, 상기 커넥터를 통해 전달된 전원의 공급을 단속하는 레귤레이터, 상기 OBD 단말기의 동작을 제어하는 MCU, 및 차량 내 센서들과 통신하는 통신모듈을 포함한다. 상기 레귤레이터는, 상기 커넥터를 통해 전달된 전원이 입력되면 제1 전원을 상기 MCU로 상시 공급하고, 기 설정된 조건에 따라 상기 통신모듈로 공급되는 제2 전원을 단속한다.
