According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, an upright fuel tank-based propulsion assistance rotor sail system comprises: an upright tank fixed and installed on a hull of a ship; and a rotor sail installed to cover part or all of an outer circumferential surface of the upright tank in the form of a cylinder having a length and a diameter greater than or equal to those of the upright tank. The rotor sail is installed rotatably while surrounding the upright tank concentrically with the upright tank, and can be moved in the height direction of the outer circumferential surface of the upright tank in accordance with circumstances to maintain a certain height. In addition, a ship equipped with the upright fuel tank-based propulsion assistance rotor sail system is installed so that the tank is installed upright on the ship, thereby enabling the rotor sail to be installed movable in a vertical direction. Therefore, the system enables easy disposition of a fuel tank in a hydrogen-powered ship that requires four or more times the volume of an LNG-powered ship, or an ammonia-powered ship that requires more than twice the space of the LNG-powered ship than in the LNG-powered ship, and has a rotating rotor sail disposed around the tank to assist the propulsion power of the ship, thereby additionally saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.

    본 발명의 바람직한 일 실시예에 따른 직립 탱크 기반 추진보조 로터세일 시스템은, 선박의 선체에 고정 설치되는 직립탱크 및 직립탱크 이상의 길이와 직경을 갖는 원통 형태로 직립탱크의 외주면 일부 또는 전부를 감싸도록 설치되는 로터세일을 포함하고, 로터세일은, 직립탱크와 동심으로 직립탱크를 감싼 채 회전 가능하게 설치되며, 상황에 따라 직립탱크 외주면의 높이 방향을 따라 이동되어 일정 높이를 유지할 수 있는 것을 특징으로 한다. 또한, 직립 탱크 기반 추진보조 로터세일 시스템 탑재 선박은, 탱크가 선박에 직립하도록 설치됨으로써, 로터세일이 상하방향으로 이동 가능하도록 설치되는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이상과 같은 구성을 가지는 본 발명에 의하면, LNG 대비 4배 이상의 체적을 필요로 하는 수소 추진 선박이나 2배 이상의 공간을 필요로 하는 암모니아 추진 선박이 LNG 추진 선박보다 더 연료탱크의 용이한 배치가 가능하게 되고, 탱크 주변에 회전형 로터세일을 함께 배치하여 선박의 추진 동력을 보조함으로써 추가적인 에너지 절감효과와 탄소배출 저감 효과가 있다.
