The present invention relates to a school zone safety device for pedestrian safety in a crosswalk and a control method thereof, which can protect a pedestrian more safely by being installed at a crosswalk or a general intersection located in a school zone and transmitting a stop signal to a vehicle driver by an arm which protrudes above a road surface and rotates. A school zone safety device according to a suitable embodiment of the present invention comprises: a safety device housing buried at a predetermined depth in the road surface on a crosswalk side; a safety rod driving motor installed on an inner bottom of the safety device housing to drive forward and reverse rotation; a transfer screw directly connected to an output shaft of the safety rod drive motor; a safety rod coupled to the transfer screw and installed to move upwards and downwards from the safety device housing according to the rotational direction of the safety rod driving motor; an arm motor installed on the safety rod; and arms for inducing a stop gaze, which are installed as a pair at left and right sides on an upper part of the safety bar and at the same time, induces the stop gaze of a driver by a change from a vertical position to a horizontal position by the driving of an arm motor.

    본 발명은 스쿨존에 위치한 횡단보도나 일반 교차로에 설치되어 노면의 상방으로 돌출되어 회전 동작된 아암에 의한 정지신호를 차량 운전자에게 보내도록 함으로써 보행자를 더욱 안전하게 보호할 수 있도록 한 횡단보도 보행안전을 위한 스쿨존 안전장치 및 이의 제어방법을 제공한다. 본 발명의 적절한 실시 형태에 따른 스쿨존 안전장치는 횡단보도측 노면에 일정 깊이로 매립되는 안전장치 하우징과; 상기 안전장치 하우징의 내부 바닥에 설치되어 정역회전 구동하는 안전봉 구동모터와; 상기 안전봉 구동모터의 출력축에 직결된 이송스크류와; 상기 이송스크류에 결합되어 안전봉 구동모터의 회전방향에 따라 상기 안전장치 하우징으로부터 상방으로 출몰 이동가능하게 설치된 안전봉과; 상기 안전봉의 상부에 설치된 아암 모터와; 상기 안전봉의 상부에 좌우 한쌍으로 설치됨과 동시에 아암 모터의 구동으로 수직자세에서 수평자세로 변경하여 운전자의 정지 시선을 유도하는 정지시선유도용 아암;을 포함한 것을 특징으로 한다.
