The present invention relates to a carbon dioxide and ballast water treatment apparatus using a gas diffusion electrode, capable of inducing the generation of a chloride-based disinfection substance as well as continuously processing carbon dioxide without separate saturation dissolution by using an electrochemical reactor employing a gas diffusion electrode, and enabling reaction byproducts produced during a reaction procedure to be used as ballast water by effectively removing the byproducts. According to the present invention, the carbon dioxide and ballast water treatment apparatus using a gas diffusion electrode includes: a carbon dioxide supply apparatus supplying carbon dioxide to a gas diffusion electrode of an electrochemical reactor; the electrochemical reactor converting the carbon dioxide supplied to the gas diffusion electrode, into sodium hydrogen carbonate or sodium carbonate as well as generating a chloride-based disinfection substance by electrolyzing seawater; and a reaction byproduct separator separating carbonic ions included in the seawater discharged from the electrochemical reactor by converting the carbonic ions into carbonic minerals, and supplying the seawater, including the chloride-based disinfection substance from which the carbonic minerals are removed, to a ballast water tank.
본 발명은 가스확산전극이 적용된 전기화학반응장치를 이용하여 별도의 포화 용해 없이 이산화탄소를 지속적으로 처리함과 함께 염소계 소독물질의 생성을 유도하며, 반응과정에서 생성된 반응부산물을 효과적으로 제거하여 평형수로 이용 가능하도록 하는 가스확산전극을 이용한 이산화탄소 및 평형수 처리장치에 관한 것으로서, 본 발명에 따른 가스확산전극을 이용한 이산화탄소 및 평형수 처리장치는 전기화학반응장치의 가스확산전극 측으로 이산화탄소를 공급하는 이산화탄소 공급장치; 및 가스확산전극 측으로 공급된 이산화탄소를 전기화학반응을 통해 탄산수소나트륨 또는 탄산나트륨으로 변환시킴과 함께 해수를 전기분해하여 염소계 소독물질을 생성시키는 전기화학반응장치; 및 전기화학반응장치로부터 배출되는 해수에 포함되어 있는 탄산이온을 탄산광물로 변환시켜 분리하며, 탄산광물이 제거된 염소계 소독물질을 포함하는 해수를 평형수 탱크에 공급하는 반응부산물 분리장치;를 포함하여 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.
