The purpose of the present invention is to make it less likely that a portion of a joined metal wire will catch on other components or the like. A hollow cylindrical filter 200 in which one or a plurality of metal wires 220 are wound so as to extend in a direction in which helical multilayered wire member portions that are adjacent in an inward/outward radial direction intersect one another. The filter comprises a deformed joining part 231 including a first metal wire member 220A that is deformed through pressing and a second metal wire member 220B that is deformed through pressing via the first metal wire member and is joined to the first metal wire member by resistance spot welding, the deformed joining part penetrating into a communicating gap positioned inward from the deformed joining part. Because the metal wires are deformed through pressing in the deformed joining part, the deformed joining part does not readily catch on other components or the like during handling of the filter.
