The purpose of the present invention is to, in an electric motor system which is connected to a rotary shaft of a supercharger, reduce the size of an electric motor without excessively enhancing the voltage-resistant performance of a power conversion device. An electric motor system (1) is provided with: an electric motor (30) that is connected to a rotary shaft of a supercharger (10); a power conversion device that supplies power to the electric motor (30); a contactor (50) that performs switching between connection and disconnection of the electric motor (30) and the power conversion device; and a control device (40) that controls the contactor (50). The control device (40) is provided with a first control unit that determines whether or not the rotation speed of the electric motor (30) is equal to or higher than a first threshold, and a second control unit that determines whether or not the rotation speed of the electric motor is equal to or higher than a second threshold which is set to a value greater than the first threshold. When the rotation speed of the electric motor is determined to be equal to or higher than the first threshold or the second threshold, the contactor (50) is set to the open state so as to disconnect the connection between the electric motor (30) and the power conversion device.
