PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel economy by assisting driving of an engine in a wide range.SOLUTION: An engine drive control system (3) incudes a motor generator (20) for driving and rotating a crank shaft (10), an automatic clutch (24) for transmitting rotation of the crank shaft to a driving wheel side in response to an engine speed, and control means (2, 23) for controlling driving of the motor generator. The automatic clutch connects a crank shaft side and a driving wheel side when the engine speed reaches a second rotation speed (N2) higher than a first engine speed (N1) as an engine start. The control means stops driving of the motor generator and changes driving torque of the motor generator after the motor generator is driven until the engine speed reaches the first rotation speed, and the control means drives the motor generator by the driving torque after the change when the engine speed reaches the second rotation speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
