To improve maximum braking force which can be achieved by an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle braking method includes: setting required braking force required for an own vehicle (S1): detecting a coefficient of friction of a road surface (S2); calculating lateral force generated on each of front wheels and rear wheels of the own vehicle (S3); calculating a braking force distribution ratio between the front wheels and the rear wheels so that a tire force usage rate which is a ratio of friction force generated on the tire to a friction limit of the tire becomes the same between the front wheels and the rear wheels, on the basis of at least the required braking force, the efficient of friction, and the lateral force (S4); and generating braking force obtained by distributing the required braking force at a braking force distribution ratio on the front wheels and the rear wheels (S5 and S6).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
