To provide an acousto-optic modulator system for protecting a photoreceptor from an incident laser beam from a laser source.SOLUTION: An acousto-optic modulator system includes a transducer array connected to a glass portion. The glass portion is positioned in an expected path of a laser beam between a laser source and a photoreceptor. An electronic control unit ("ECU") selectively energizes the transducer array, to cause the transducer array to emit an acoustic pressure wave into the glass portion. The acoustic pressure wave has a predetermined vibrational characteristic that changes a refractive index of the glass portion in order to diffract the beam. A camera system includes a transducer array, an ECU, and a camera having an imaging sensor and an external lens disposed in an expected path. A host aircraft includes a photoreceptor, a fuselage, one or more wings, a glass portion, a transducer array, and an ECU.SELECTED DRAWING: None
