To provide a recumbent type bicycle in which a tread force direction of a rider and a locus of a pedal can be made to match each other in a tread force maximum zone of the rider, and a distance of treading of the pedal in that state can be made long.SOLUTION: A recumbent type bicycle includes a head pipe (2), a main frame (3), a handle stem (4), a front fork (7), a front wheel (8), and a rear wheel (9). The main frame (3) is provided with a seat part seat (11). A first gear (23) and a second gear (26) are provided in a front part of a vehicle body. A first transmission chain (27) is looped over the first gear (23) and the second gear (26). A pedal (31) is configured to move along the first transmission chain (27). Such a recumbent type bicycle (1) is configured such that an angle α formed by a tread force direction F to the pedal (31) and a locus direction of the pedal (31) falls within a range of ±20 degrees, ±10 degrees, or ±5 degrees in the tread force maximum zone in which the tread force of the rider is in the range of the maximum.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
