To provide an electric vehicle and a battery charging method for the electric vehicle to improve charging efficiency of a second battery of which voltage is lower in an electric vehicle having a first battery and the second battery each having different voltages.SOLUTION: An electric vehicle 1 includes an on-vehicle charger 40 and a step-down unit 45. The on-vehicle charger 40 converts power of an external power source 90 from AC to DC and transforms to a first voltage and charges a first battery 10 with the DC power of the first voltage. The step-down unit 45 steps down the voltage of the DC power before the transformation of the on-vehicle charger 40 to a second voltage lower than the first voltage and outputs the DC power of the second voltage to a second battery 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
