To reduce influence of a decrease in fuel concentration due to the mixture of an inert gas on power generation of a fuel cell.SOLUTION: A fuel cell system 5 includes: a fuel cell 51 that supplies power to a propulsion device 9 or an auxiliary machine 11; a fuel gas pipe 41 through which a fuel gas flows; an inert gas pipe 43 that is connected to the fuel gas pipe 41 and into which an inert gas is introduced when the fuel gas is purged; a backflow control unit 31 that is disposed in the inert gas pipe 43 and controls backflow; a flow rate control unit 63 that can adjust a flow rate of the fuel gas; a detection unit 29 that detects the mixture of the inert gas into the fuel gas pipe 41; and a control unit 171 that controls the flow rate control unit 63. In a case where a detection result of the detection unit 29 indicates the mixture of the inert gas when the fuel gas is supplied to the fuel gas pipe 41, the control unit 171 controls the flow rate control unit 63 so that a fuel utilization rate of the fuel cell 51 is reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
