To provide a heater element with which electrodes are hardly corrodible even in a water-existing environment, and with which it is possible to suppress the occurrence of shorting.SOLUTION: Provided is a heater element 100 comprising: a honeycomb structure 10 in which a bulkhead 14 is composed of a material having PTC characteristic; a first electrode 20 that has an electrode portion A1 provided on a first end face 12a and an electrode portion B1 conned to the electrode portion A1 and provided on the surface of the bulkhead 14 in a direction in which a passage extends from the first end face 12a; and a second electrode 30 that has an electrode portion A2 provided on a second end face 12b and an electrode portion B2 conned to the electrode portion A2 and provided on the surface of the bulkhead 14 in a direction in which a passage extends from the second end face 12b.
