To provide a heater device which comprises a planar heat generating element and can detect the abnormality of the planar heat generating element regardless of direction of cracking occurring in a heat generating layer of the planar heat generating element.SOLUTION: A heater device 20 comprises a planar heater 22, an electric circuit 32, and a control ECU 34. The planar heater 22 comprises a heat generating layer 26 in which carbon nano-tubes are thoroughly disposed, and a plurality of pairs of electrodes 28 and 30 each facing one another in directions along a surface of the heat generating layer 26 and being connected to the heat generating layer 26. Facing direction X, Y of the plurality of pairs of electrodes 28 and pairs of electrodes 30 cross one another. The electric circuit 32 can individually change current paths for applying voltage to the plurality of pairs of electrodes 28 and pairs of electrodes 30. The control ECU 34 is connected to the electric circuit 32, can detect a value of resistance or consumption power of the planar heater 22 on the basis of a voltage value of the voltage and a current value of the current flowing through the electric circuit 32, and cyclically changes the current path.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】面状発熱体の発熱層に生じる亀裂の方向に関わらず、面状発熱体の異常を検出可能なヒータ装置を得る。【解決手段】ヒータ装置20は、面状ヒータ22と、電気回路32と、制御ECU34とを備える。面状ヒータ22は、カーボンナノチューブが満遍なく配設された発熱層26と、各々が発熱層26の表面に沿った方向に対向して対をなし、発熱層26に接続された複数対の電極28、30とを有している。複数対の電極28、30の対向方向X、Yは、互いに交差している。電気回路32は、複数対の電極28、30に個別に電圧を印加するための電流経路の切り替えが可能である。制御ECU34は、電気回路32に接続され、上記電圧の電圧値と、電気回路32を流れる電流の電流値とに基づいて面状ヒータ22の抵抗値又は消費電力を検出可能とされており、上記の電流経路を周期的に切り替える。【選択図】図2
