To select a torque converter in which a thermal restriction caused by the use of high torque of an electric motor is appropriately suppressed.SOLUTION: A reference torque capacity coefficient Ks is obtained based on a reference rotation speed Ns and a heat rating torque Th, in which the reference rotation speed Ns is a rotational speed of an intersection S between a maximum output curve Lm and the heat rating torque Th of an electric motor MG. A torus diameter D is defined according to the reference torque capacity coefficient Ks, thus obtaining a torque amplification effect by a torque converter in a region of the reference rotation speed Ns or less including all heat restriction torque region. With this, the use of the heat restriction torque region of the electric motor MG is suppressed even in a high load operation and the risk of heat restriction on the electric motor MG is reduced, thereby suppressing anxiety and discomfort of a driver in a reduction in drive force caused by the heat restriction. Also a torque amplification effect by a torque converter is obtained including a region of maximum output of the electric motor MG, which increases a drive force of a power region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】電動機の高トルク使用に起因する熱制限が適切に抑制されるトルクコンバータを選定する。【解決手段】電動機MGの最大出力カーブLm と熱定格トルクTh との交点Sの回転数を基準回転数Ns として、その基準回転数Ns および熱定格トルクTh に基づいて基準トルク容量係数Ks が求められ、その基準トルク容量係数Ks に応じてトーラス径Dが定められるため、熱制限トルク域を総て含む基準回転数Ns 以下の領域でトルクコンバータによるトルク増幅作用が得られる。これにより、高負荷時でも電動機MGの熱制限トルク域の使用が抑制され、電動機MGが熱制限を受ける可能性が低くなるため、熱制限に起因する駆動力低下によって運転者に不安感や違和感を生じさせることが抑制される。また、電動機MGの最大出力の領域を含んでトルクコンバータによるトルク増幅作用が得られるため、パワー域の駆動力が上昇する。【選択図】図3
