To provide a rubber composition for tires which can enhance grip force without impairing wear resistance and steering stability.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tires contains 3-100 pts.mass of an aromatic hydrocarbon resin satisfying the following inequalities (1) and (2) based on 100 pts.mass of a diene rubber: Tg>36×Mw/Mn+22 (1) and Mw>3000 (2) (where Tg is a glass transition temperature [unit: °C]; Mw is a weight average molecular weight; and Mn is a number average molecular weight).SELECTED DRAWING: None
