To provide a tire data processing apparatus and a tire data processing method capable of accurately comparing non-uniform surface shapes of tread surfaces of right and left tires.SOLUTION: A tire data processing apparatus 1 includes a data acquisition unit 21 for acquiring surface shape data indicating the tire surface shape; a reference point setting unit 22 for setting a reference point P having a predetermined radial value at each of a plurality of axial positions in a tire axial direction; a symmetric reference point selecting unit 24 for selecting a pair of reference points Pp and Pq arranged at a symmetric axial position around a tire equatorial plane CL from a plurality of the reference points P; a reference point replacing unit 25 for replacing one or both of the pair of reference points Pp and Pq so that radial values Z1 and Z2 of the pair of reference points Pp and Pq coincide; and a comparison result generating unit 26 for generating a predetermined comparison result by comparing the pair of reference points Pp and Pq having the coinciding radial values Z1 with a measurement point group A of the surface shape data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
