To provide a method, a sensor device, a vehicle, a computer program product, and a computer readable storage medium that detect peripheral environment information that describe a parking space using a convolutional neural network.SOLUTION: A method comprises: assigning measurement data to one or more objects in a peripheral environment using a peripheral environment sensor of the vehicle 1; creating, on the basis of the measurement data, a peripheral environment map describing the peripheral environment; identifying the measurement data spatially relative to the vehicle in the peripheral environment map; feeding the peripheral environment map to a convolutional neural network; and causing the neural network to classify and locate, on the basis of the peripheral environment map, a vehicle parking space 9, detect structure descriptions 15a to 18c defining each parking space and generate structure description peripheral environment information based on the classified and located parking space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
