To provide a magnetic encoder which has an annular magnetic member made of a plastic magnet, and in which the breakage of the annular magnetic member at thermal impact test can be prevented, and sealing performance of a fit portion between a cylinder portion of an annular support member and an inner ring of a bearing can be held for a long period of time.SOLUTION: A magnetic encoder 1 for use in an automobile wheel support bearing device is provided, comprised of a metal-made annular support member 2 and a plastic-magnet made annular magnet member 3. The annular support member 2 is composed of a cylinder portion 4 externally fit to an inner ring 11 of a bearing and an outward flange portion 5. A rounded-surface 6 is formed between an inner periphery 4A of the cylinder portion 4 and a face 5A of the outward flange portion 5 at an inboard IB side. The annular magnet member 3 is attached to the face 5a of the outward flange portion 5 at the inboard IB side. A cylindrical inner periphery 3A of the annular magnet member 3 opposes an outer periphery 11B of the inner ring 11 with an interval C which is equal to or smaller than 0.15 mm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
【課題】円環状磁石部材がプラスチック磁石製である磁気エンコーダにおいて、熱衝撃試験における円環状磁石部材の破損を防止できるとともに、円環状支持部材の円筒部と軸受の内輪との嵌合部の密封性を長期間にわたって保持できる磁気エンコーダを提供する。【解決手段】自動車のホイール支持用軸受装置に用いる磁気エンコーダ1であり、金属製の円環状支持部材2及びプラスチック磁石製の円環状磁石部材3からなる。円環状支持部材2は、軸受の内輪11に外嵌する円筒部4と外向きフランジ部5とからなる。円筒部4の内周面4Aと外向きフランジ部5のインボードIB側の面5Aとの間にはR面6がある。円環状磁石部材3は、外向きフランジ部5のインボードIB側の面5Aに取り付けられる。円環状磁石部材3の円筒状の内周面3Aが、内輪11の外周面11Bに対して0.15mm以下の隙間Cをあけて対向する。【選択図】図3
