To safely and efficiently carry out centering of a guide rail.SOLUTION: A thin line position detector 1 comprises: a position detection sensor 11 for detecting the position of a thin line; a housing 15 that holds the position detection sensor; and a rail clip 16 for detachably fixing the housing to a guide rail of an elevator. The rail clip includes a Y reference surface 16y brought into contact with the track surface of the guide rail, an X reference surface 16x brought into contact with the cutting edge surface of the guide rail, and a hook 34 formed at a position opposite the Y reference surface.
