To provide a method for controlling a passenger conveyor group of a transit destination according to users of a passenger conveyor before transit.SOLUTION: In an automatic start/stop operation method for a passenger conveyor group of the present invention, a second conveyor 10B is arranged to be transitable from a first passenger conveyor 10A, the first passenger conveyor comprises first sensors 42A that detect positions of persons present in a first detection area β, wherein the first detection area β is a getting-off platform 21A for transit to the second passenger conveyor. The method performs operation by switching a rated operation mode and an energy-saving operation mode, and comprises: a detection step of plane-scanning, by the first sensors 42A, the first detection area β at a predetermined height to detect presence or absence of a person present in the first detection area β; and an operation mode control step of causing the second passenger conveyor to shift into or continue the rated operation mode when a person heading toward the second passenger conveyor is detected among the persons detected in the first detection area β.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
