To provide a vehicle body rear part structure that can provide further improved impact absorption effect by an impact absorption member and can further improve safety of an occupant.SOLUTION: A vehicle body rear part structure includes: a floor pan 13; a sub-frame; an impact absorption member 4 disposed behind the sub-frame; a bracket 5 by which the impact absorption member 4 is detachably attached; and an extension member 6 disposed opposed to a rear end portion 39 of the impact absorption member 4. The impact absorption member 4 includes a first extension part 47 extending along a lower surface 13a of the floor pan 13 and a second extension part 48 extending in front of the floor pan 13. The extension member 6 extends above the impact absorption member 4 in an up-down direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
