To provide an impact absorption mechanism capable of absorbing impact suitably.SOLUTION: An impact absorption mechanism has a plurality of impact absorption units including columnar wood arranged in a direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the impact absorption units. The wood of all the impact absorption units of the impact absorption mechanism is made of the common wood species. When a total dry density of the wood species is d1 (g/cm3), the wood is a knot-free material whose air-dry density d (g/cm3) satisfies the following formula: d1-0.05≤d≤d1+0.05. Further, an axial length of the wood of all the impact absorption units is the same.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
